The “ΠΡΑΞΗMΑ. Journal of Visual Semiotics” ("PRAXEMA") is a periodical issue, intended for the discussion of theoretical problems of modern visual semiotics, the sphere of which includes the questions of studying the visual aspects of organization and functioning of culture as a communicative environment.
Visual semiotics is understood as a one of the new dynamic human sciences, and as an multidisciplinary field, in which methods and achievements of the “traditional”, “classic” branch of the humanities interact: philosophy, cultural studies, sociology, political science, art history, religious studies, aesthetics, ethics, history, linguistics, ethnography etc.
The dominant view of the research on the theme is determined by the accentuation of communicative aspects of visual semiotics. It will give an opportunity to put into focus the relationship of visual phenomena and systems of visual phenomena with the cultural and anthropological practice. In this (pragmatic) perspective, any visual sema can and should be interpreted as praxema: sign presenting and generating certain pragmatic installations, norms and effects. Thus, the subject of visual semiotics is understood as a sphere of cultural and anthropological praxis, as a space of mutual understanding and interaction through optical expressed existentially important meanings.
Publication frequency: 4 issues per year.

- philosophy of visual image (semantics, syntax, pragmatics)
- theory of the sign and of the sign-communication; visual (nonverbal) languages
- visual axiology (analytics of visual experience of fixation and translation of norms and values in culture; cultural and semiotic transfer; visual environment as a sphere of normative didactics; visual semiotics as a communicative axiology)
- visual anthropology (philosophical, ethnological and sociological aspects presentations of human identity)
- visual practices in cultures; visual aspects of the representation of cultural realities; visual arts in the life and history of cultures
- visual aspects of government policy and regional management
- semiotic diagnostics of social and cultural transformation; visual parameters of culture in connection with the tendencies of humanization/dehumanization of society
- visual semiotics and humanitarian knowledge; the visual aspects of the modern Humanities (history, sociology, political science, archaeology)
- semiotics of photo
- semiotics of cinema
- semiotics of architecture
- semiotics and hermeneutics of living environment of man; anthropology of space
- visual aspects of the functioning of the media
- semiotics of games
- visual semiotics and aesthetics
- visual semiotics and cultural geography
- visual aspects of pedagogy
- optical aspects and the dominant of cognitive practices
- visual and virtual.
This list is not completed and may be extended at the expense by attention to additional areas of visual semiotic research. The languages of this journal are Russian, English and French. For publication in the journal Editoral Board accepts papers written in the following genres: scientific article; translation of scientific article; essay; interviews; review; bibliographic review; report on the scientific event. All sent materials are reviewed.
