THE ACTION OF THE LAST JUDGMENT IN THE ORTHODOX CHURCH SERVICE OF RUSSIA IN THE 17th CENTURY: TO THE PROBLEM OF TYPOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LITURGICAL ACTION
The article analyzes one of the least studied liturgical actions – the action on the Last Judgment, celebrated in the Russian Orthodox Church in the 17th century. I consider the origin and content of the liturgical rite, the space of action, the specificity of its participants and features of the committing action. The specificity of the action space, the number and composition of its participants, the content associated with the ultimate fate of the world make the action of the Last Judgment the culmination of liturgical celebrations development. In this case the target action is achieved with a minimum of expressive means in combination with a large volume and a rich symbolic content. Revealed peculiarities of the action allow to raise the question of the typological characteristics of the liturgical action, as well as question of the ways and forms of ‘impersonation’ of the Sacred history events in the liturgical action and in divine service in general.
